The Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania is a stunning wildlife sanctuary that boasts a massive soda lake, covering two-thirds of the park. It is situated at the base of the western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, making it a truly breathtaking location.
Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions are another reason to pay a visit to this park. The only kind of their species in the world, they make the ancient mahogany and elegant acacias their home during the rainy season and are a well-known but rather rare feature of the northern park.
Getting there: Lake Manyara National Park
Most travelers visit the Manyara National Park from Arusha town, Kilimanjaro airport, or as part of a bigger package, including a visit to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire.
The most convenient way to access all the parks in the northern circuit is by flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which is located approximately 46km/29 mi from Arusha. Alternatively, you can also fly into Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) or Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) and then connect to Arusha Airport (ARK) or Mwanza International Airport (JRO). If you prefer to travel by road, you can drive in our safari vehicle. Another option is to take a chartered or scheduled flight to Manyara airport, where we will pick you up with our safari vehicle.
